in der postpunk zeit war das vor allem bei englischen indielabels eine durchaus gängige praxis, songs nur als singles zu veröffentlichen + nicht aufs album mit draufzupacken - bestes bespiel sind viele sachen, die damals bei factory records erschienen sind - von new order wurden ja schon die songs genannt, aber auch von anderen bands wurde das durchaus so praktiziert.
so erschienen die singles von The Names (Calcutta + Nightshift) erst wesentlich später auf nem compilation tape (bzw jetzt auf den rereleases der alben).
ähnlich bei The Wake von denen alle bei factory veröffentlichten singles auch exclusiv waren + nicht zu albumtracks mutierten.
auch bei Section 25 war das bis zu Looking From A Hilltop der fall.
